RANCOME NAMED THE MALE COLLEGE ATHLETE OF THE YEAR BY THE NASSAU COUNTY SPORTS COMMISSION

MANHASSET, NY- Men's soccer player, Russ Francome (Hendon, England) was named the Male College Athlete of the Year by the Nassau County Sports Commission.  He graduated in January with a degree in Social Work and will look to begin his studies for his master's degree in the fall. 

Francome is a true team player as he stepped up and claimed the position of goalkeeper after the Lions starting goalkeeper was injured early in the season.  Francome, who was selected to the Daktronics Northeast Region First Team and to the All-ECC Second Team, finished second in the NCAA Division II with a .880 save percentage and third with a .529 goals against average.  He led the East Coast Conference in save percentage and was third in goals against average.  In addition, Francome broke the single season and career school records in goals against average and broke the single season school record in shutouts.
