MENS SOCCER FALLS TO STAC IN OVERTIME
ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NY- The Molloy College men's soccer dropped in overtime to the Spartans of St. Thomas Aquinas College on October 20 at the John A. Darcy Field. With the 2-1 ECC loss, the Lions drop to 9-3-3 overall and 3-2-2 in conference play, while the Spartans improve their records to 6-10 and 2-6.
Less than a minute prior to halftime, freshman Daniel Patino (Valley Stream, NY) gave Molloy the 1-0 lead off a pass from sophomore Bart Charkow (Valley Steam, NY). After halftime, STAC answered back in the first two minutes when Christopher Hernandez found the back of the net and tied the game at one. Both teams remained scoreless for the remainder of the second half and the ECC game went into overtime. As 46 seconds remained on the clock in the first overtime, STAC's Giuseppe Chiarelli headed the ball past senior Russ Francome (Hendon, England) and gave the Spartans the 2-1 victory. Francome finished the game with three saves for Molloy.
The Lions will remain home to host Felician College on Monday, October 22 at 3:30 PM.
