MENS LACROSSE ENDS 2008 SEASON ON A HIGH NOTE

MASSAPEQUA, NY- The Molloy College men's lacrosse team ended their 2008 season with a 16-6 victory over the Chargers of Dominican College on April 26 at Burns Park in Massapequa. The Lions finish their season with a 5-8 overall record and a 1-5 East Coast Conference record, while the Chargers now hold a 5-8 overall record and a 0-4 conference record.
Senior Kevin Meekins (Levittown, NY) scored the Lions first goal of the game and senior Brian Tempone (Merrick, NY) netted the next two to give Molloy the 3-0 lead. The Lions recorded two more goals before Dominican placed their first goal of the game on the scoreboard (5-1) with 1:21 left in the first. Tempone snuck one past Dominican's goalkeeper and Molloy held the 6-1 advantage after a quarter of play. In the first two minutes of the second, the Chargers cut their deficit to four (6-2) but Molloy answered with two goals to go ahead, 8-2. The Lions and the Chargers traded the last two goals of the second and Molloy headed into halftime with a 9-3 advantage.
Meekins and junior Chris Mills (Freeport, NY) notched the first two goals of the third quarter for the Lions (11-3). Dominican made it an11-4 game but a goal by junior Brian Leo (Hicksville, NY) with two seconds left in the third gave Molloy the 12-4 edge. During the fourth quarter, the Lions recorded four more goals, while the Chargers only added two to their total and Molloy took the 16-6 conference victory. Tempone finished the game with four goals and an assist, while junior Keith Galante (Plainedge, NY) had three goals and an assist. Senior Rob Humann (Hicksville, NY) recorded seven saves, while senior Tim Pressler (East Meadow, NY) made four saves in net.
