DOWLING OUTLASTS MEN’S LACROSSE

BROOKHAVEN, NY- The Molloy College men's lacrosse team dropped an East Coast Conference game to the Golden Lions of Dowling College on Saturday, April 12.  The Lions fall to 4-7 on the season and 0-4 in league play, while Dowling improves to 9-1 and 2-0. 

The Golden Lions scored the first goal of the game but then both teams headed into the locker rooms for a 30 minute lightning delay.  Once the teams took the field again, senior Kevin Meekins (Levittown, NY) notched a goal and tied the game at one.  Molloy took a 2-1 advantage after junior Keith Galante (Plainedge, NY) put one between the pipes.  However, Dowling finished the first quarter by scoring four straight goals and held the 5-2 edge.  Molloy and Dowling each recorded a goal during the second quarter and the Golden Lions headed into halftime with the 6-3 lead. 

Dowling kept the Lions off the scoreboard during the third quarter, while they added two goals to their total (8-3).  The Lions cut their deficit to three (8-5) as junior Jeffrey Flandina (West Islip, NY) and junior Michael Salisbury (Freeport, NY) each notched a goal.  Both teams traded goals over the final nine minutes as Dowling came away with the 10-7 victory.  Senior Rob Humann (Hicksville, NY) recorded nine saves for Molloy, while Nick Tracey made 13 saves for Dowling.

The Lions will host C.W. Post on Saturday, April 19 for their senior day.  The East Coast Conference game is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
