FLANDINA SCORES THREE GOALS BUT MEN’S LACROSSE DROPS TO MERCYHURST

ERIE, PA- Junior Jeffrey Flandina (West Islip, NY) scored three goals but it was not enough as the Molloy College men's lacrosse team fell to the Lakers of Mercyhurst College on April 5.  The 9-8 conference loss drops the Lions to 4-6 and 0-3, while the Lakers improve to 4-3 and 2-1.

Molloy and Mercyhurst each netted a goal in the first quarter.  During the second quarter the Lakers scored all five of the goals and headed into halftime with the 6-1 lead.  Junior Chris Mills (Freeport, NY) recorded the first goal of the third quarter but Mercyhurst answered back with two goals and went ahead by six (8-2).  Molloy notched four straight goals and cut their deficit to two (8-6) with just over ten minutes left in the game.  Seven minutes later, Mercyhurst took a 9-6 lead but a goal by Flandina brought Molloy back to within two (9-7).  Flandina placed another goal between the pipes and made it a one goal game (9-8) but the Lions would run out of time.  Senior Rob Humann (Hicksville, NY) recorded 17 saves in net for Molloy, while Mercyhurt's Jason LaShomb made 11 saves.

The Lions will travel to Dowling College on Saturday, April 12 for a 1:00 PM East Coast Conference game.
