NYIT TAKES CONFERENCE OPENER OVER MEN’S LACROSSE

OLD WESTBURY, NY- Senior Brian Tempone (Merrick, NY) scored two goals during the 22-6 East Coast Conference loss to the Bears of NYIT on March 22. The Lions fall to 4-2 overall, while the Bears stay undefeated on the season (6-0).

NYIT scored the first eleven goals of the game. Tempone netted the first goal for Molloy with 2:25 left in the second and the Lions went into halftime with an 11-1 deficit. But the Bears remained strong after halftime as they recorded the first four goals of the third quarter. Freshman Vinny Galasso (West Islip, NY) and junior Keith Galante (Plainedge, NY) each notched a goal in the third but Molloy headed into the fourth quarter with the 16-3 disadvantage. The Lions went on to add three more goals in the fourth quarter but NYIT placed six between the pipes to come away with the 22-6 conference victory. Senior Rob Humann (Hicksville, NY) recorded 17 saves over his 45 minutes of play in net for Molloy.

The Lions return to home to host Southern New Hampshire on Wednesday, March 26. The non-conference game will begin at 7:00 PM.
