MERRIMACK SQUEAKS BY MENS LACROSSE
NORTH ANDOVER, MA- The Molloy College men's lacrosse team dropped a non-conference game to the Warriors of Merrimack College on March 16. The Lions pick up their first loss of the 2008 season (4-1), while Merrimack takes their season opener.
Merrimack scored the first goal of the game as six minutes came off the clock. With nine seconds left in the first, senior Kevin Meekins (Levittown NY) tied the score at one. During the second quarter, the Lions took a 3-1 lead after goals by senior Brian Tempone (Merrick, NY) and freshman Ryan Bohlert (East Patchogue, NY). The Warriors cut their deficit to one (3-2) but Molloy headed into halftime with a 4-2 advantage after a goal by junior Jeffrey Flandina (West Islip, NY).
During the next two quarters, the Lions had trouble finding the back of the net as Bohlert recorded Molloy's only goal. However, the Warriors would add four more goals to their total and they would come away with the 6-5 win. Senior Rob Humann (Hicksville, NY) notched 13 saves in net during the loss.
The Lions will open up their East Coast Conference season on Saturday, March 22 at NYIT. Game time is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
