MEN’S LACROSSE PUMMELS ASSUMPTION

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NY- Junior Michael Salisbury (Freeport, NY) notched five goals and one assist to lead the Molloy College men's lacrosse team to a 13-5 victory over the Greyhounds of Assumption College on March 1 at the John A. Darcy Field. The non-conference victory improves the Lions to 2-0, while Assumption records their second loss of the season (0-2).

Senior Keith Galante (Plainedge, NY) began the scoring for Molloy with a goal in the first minute of play. Salisbury went on to score three of his five goals during the first quarter and the Lions went ahead by six after the first. Assumption placed their first goal on the scoreboard as 1:03 ticked off the clock in the second. But over the next eight minutes, freshmen Brandon Peyer (Williston Park, NY) and Ryan Bohlert (East Patchogue, NY), along with Galante, all placed one between the pipes. The Greyhounds notched a second goal three minutes prior to halftime but Molloy still headed into intermission with a 9-2 lead.

Galante assisted on Bohlert's second goal of the game and Molloy took a 10-2 advantage. Assumption cut their deficit to five (10-5) after scoring three straight goals. Salisbury notched the last goal of the third quarter and put the Lions ahead by six (11-5). Galante and Salisbury put the last two goals on the scoreboard during the fourth quarter to give the Lions the 13-5 win.

Galante finished the game with three goals and four assists. Bohlert had two goals and freshman Vinny Galasso (West Islip, NY) pitched in with a goal and two assists. Senior Rob Humman (Hicksville, NY) recorded eight saves over 55 minutes of play and senior Tim Pressler (East Meadow, NY) notched two saves in his five minutes of play.

Next Saturday, the Lions will travel to St. Michael's College for a 12:00 PM non-conference game.
