ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. (Apr. 29, 2009) - Very recently, the Molloy College men's basketball team pieced together its own Midnight Run. The players left the school in two vans with clothes, food and toiletries for the homeless. They later returned home with nothing left over in the bins.
"I thought it was one of the greatest charity events that I have ever done in my 14 seasons here," Head Coach Charlie Marquardt (Belle Harbor, N.Y.) stated. "It was an amazing night as our kids gave back to the people of New York City. The school would be proud of the work we did in the streets of New York."
Marquardt and the Lions ended the 2008-09 season with an overall ledger of 8-20 in addition to an East Coast Conference record of 7-11. In the process, freshman guard Chris Manning (Queens, N.Y.) received All-ECC Rookie Team.
