ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. (Jan. 27, 2009) - Last night, the Molloy College men's basketball team made a visit next door to Mercy Medical Center in Rockville Centre, N.Y. The Lions gave out gifts to the patients such as key chains, mini basketballs, magnets and towels. They also made great conversation, which put smiles on each of their faces.
Those Molloy players in attendance were juniors Ian Thomas-Minor (Brooklyn, N.Y.), Girard Fitts (Uniondale, N.Y.), Carl Palmer (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Michael Johnson (Jamaica, N.Y.). Sophomore Brian Hutchinson (Elmont, N.Y.) and freshmen Sean Hehir (Massapequa, N.Y.), Chris Manning (Queens, N.Y.), Kevin Walsh (West Hempstead, N.Y.) and T.J. Gessner (Mineola, N.Y.) were there as well.
"Our team visited Mercy Medical Center last night with the intention of cheering up the rehab center and bringing gifts to the maternity ward," stated Head Coach Charles Marquardt (Belle Harbor, N.Y.). "Gifts from the athletic department were handed out and conversations with the units were positive to both our players and the patients."
