QUEENS TAKES VICTORY FROM MENS BASKETBALL IN FINAL SECOND
ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NY- The Molloy College men's basketball team fell in the final second to the Knights of Queens College on February 13 at Quealy Gymnasium. The 70-68 loss dropped the Lions to 8-14 overall and 6-10 in the ECC, while Queens improves to 4-18 and 2-13.
Senior Glenn Martin (Brooklyn, NY) opened the game by scoring six of the Lions seven points and Molloy had the 7-5 lead. Over the next seven minutes, the Lions kept the advantage but Queens tied the game at 19 with 9:18 before halftime. Molloy and the Knights vied for the edge and the Lions would come out on top at halftime (32-30).
A three point play by senior Kris Cabrera (Manhattan, NY) gave Molloy a 46-39 lead. The Lions kept their distance from the Knights but Queens did not let up and evened the score at 64 with 4:21 left on the clock. Khaleef Allicott converted a three point play for Queens and gave the Knights their first advantage of the half with 1:20 ticks left. Martin's lay-up with 26 seconds on the scoreboard tied the game at 68 but a jumper by Mike Liander with one second left, gave Queens the 70-68 conference victory.
Martin finished the game with a double-double (23 points; 10 rebounds), while junior Carl Palmer (Brooklyn, NY) had 11 points. Cabrera ended the day with nine points and freshman Brian Hutchinson (Elmont, NY) contributed 8 points during the game.
The Lions take the road on Saturday, February 16 as they take on Mercy College at Dobbs Ferry High School. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
