FALZONE CAPTURES 16th DOUBLE-DOUBLE DURING MEN’S BASKETBALL LOSS TO BRIDGEPORT

BRIDGEPORT, CT- Senior Vincent Falzone (Middle Village, NY) captured his sixteenth double-double of the season during the 88-61 ECC men's basketball loss to the Purple Knights of the University of Bridgeport on February 6. The Lions dropped their sixth straight game and fell to 8-12 overall and 6-8 in the conference, while Bridgeport improved to 9-12 and 7-7.

Molloy struggled from the opening tip-off as they held an early 20-6 deficit. Two free throws by Falzone cut the Lions disadvantage to ten (22-12) but the Purple Knights kept adding to their total and held a 23 point lead (38-15) with 6:30 left in the first half. At halftime, Bridgeport had a 21 point cushion (47-26).

The Lions held their own in the second half but they could not overcome their early deficit and eventually fell, 88-61. Falzone led the Lions with 15 points and 14 rebounds. Junior Carl Palmer (Brooklyn, NY) and senior Glenn Martin (Brooklyn, NY) each had eight points, while sophomore Girard Fitts (Uniondale, NY) and freshman Tolulade Jegede (Elmont, NY) each scored seven points.

The Lions return to action on Saturday, February 9 when they travel to the University of New Haven. The East Coast Conference game is scheduled to begin at 4:00 PM.
