FOUR LIONS SCORE IN DOUBLE DIGITS BUT C.W. POST TAKES CONFERENCE VICTORY OVER MEN'S BASKETBALL

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NY- Four Lions score in double-digits but the Molloy College men's basketball team fell to the Pioneers of C.W. Post on February 2. Molloy drops to 8-11 overall and 6-7 in the conference, while the Pioneers improve to 18-2 and 13-0.

Molloy opened the game with a 6-2 lead but three minutes into the half, C.W. Post tied the game at 8. The Lions and Pioneers battled back and forth for the lead but C.W. Post eventually went ahead by seven points (29-22) as just under eight minutes were left in the half. Four minutes later, the Pioneers had doubled their led to 14 (44-30) after a three pointer by Jonathan Schmidt. The Lions kept fighting back but they still headed into the locker room with the 47-36 deficit.

Nine minutes into the second half, C.W. Post saw themselves with their biggest advantage of the game (70-53). A jumper by junior Carl Palmer (Brooklyn, NY) started a 12-7 run by the Lions as they cut their disadvantage to nine (74-65) as just under seven minutes remained in the game. However, the Pioneers pulled ahead again and with 4:39 ticks left, C.W. Post held the 80-67 cushion. Molloy fought to the end but they could not come away with the victory.

Senior Vincent Falzone (Middle Village, NY) led the Lions with 16 points and 10 rebounds, while senior Glenn Martin (Brooklyn, NY) posted 15 points during the game. Freshman Brian Hutchinson (Elmont, NY) recorded 14 points and five rebounds and sophomore Girard Fitts (Uniondale, NY) had 11 points and handed out five assists.

The Lions will take to the road as they go to the University of Bridgeport on Wednesday, February 6. Game time is set for 7:00 PM.
