MEN’S BASKETBALL FALLS IN SECOND DAY OF NOVA SOUTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY HOLIDAY CLASSIC

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL- The Molloy College men's basketball team dropped the Buccaneers of Barry University in their second game of the Nova Southeastern University Holiday Classic on December 29. The Lions fall to .500 on the season (6-6), while Barry improves to 6-7.

Sophomore Girard Fitt's (Uniondale, NY) three pointer tied the game at seven but Barry notched the next two points and would never lose the lead again. The Buccaneers took their biggest edge of the first (27-14) with 9:33 left in the half. However, the Lions did not lose focus and eventually cut their deficit to six (38-32) after a jumper by junior Carl Palmer (Brooklyn, NY). Molloy headed into the locker room at halftime with the 40-32 disadvantage.

Six minutes into the second half, Molloy held a six point deficiency (47-41) after a lay-up by Fitts. But Barry scored eight unanswered run and took a 55-41 lead. Two free throws by junior Michael Johnson (Jamaica, NY) brought the Lions to within eight (59-51) but Barry pulled ahead again and would not look back for the 79-61 non-conference victory.

Palmer led the Lions with 13 points, while senior Vincent Falzone (Middle Village, NY) grabbed a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Senior Glenn Martin (Brooklyn, NY) scored 11 points and Fitts ended the game with 10 points.

The Lions will return home to take on Mercy College at 7:30 PM on Wednesday, January 9.
