MARTIN AND FALZONE NOTCH 19 APIECE AS MENS BASKETBALL FALL TO FELICIAN
ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NY- Seniors Glenn Martin (Brooklyn, NY) and Vincent Falzone (Middle Village, NY) each scored 19 points but the Molloy College men's basketball team fell to the Golden Falcons of Felician College on December 17 at Quealy Gymnasium. The 78-70 non-conference loss drops the Lions to 6-4 overall, while Felician improves to 4-5.
Senior Glenn Martin (Brooklyn, NY) scored the first two points for Molloy and the Lions held the 14-10 lead as seven minutes came off the clock. With nine minutes left in the first, Felician evened the score at 20. The Golden Falcons then went on a 15-7 run to grab an eight point lead (35-27). Molloy fought back to cut their deficit to four (37-33) at halftime.
In the first three minutes of the second half, senior Kyle Dongo's (Bronx, NY) three pointer brought Molloy to within four points (42-38). However, at the midpoint of the second, Felician held their biggest lead of the game (63-49). The Lions made a comeback and a lay-up by Falzone gave the Lions a seven point disadvantage (71-64) with just under two minutes left. However, Felician held the Lions off during the final minutes to take the 78-70 non-conference victory.
Falzone finished the game with a double-double (19 points and 19 rebounds), while Martin had 19 points and five assists. Dongo ended with nine points and four steals and sophomore Girard Fitts (Uniondale, NY) chipped in with nine points.
The Lions will return to action when they play in the Nova Southeastern University Holiday Classic on December 28 and 29 in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Molloy will take on Nova Southeastern on December 28 at 6:00 PM and then face Barry University on December 29 at 6:00 PM.
