MEN’S BASKETBALL ROLLS PAST BRIDGEPORT FALZONE HONORED BEFORE GAME

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NY- Senior Vincent Falzone (Middle Village, NY) was honored prior to the start of today's game for scoring his 1,000th career point on Saturday, December 1. Falzone then led the Molloy College men's basketball team to a 67-58 conference victory over the University of Bridgeport on December 1 after he recorded a double-double. The Lions improve their overall record to 5-3 and their East Coast Conference record to 3-2, while the Purple Knights drop to 3-3 and 2-2.

Freshman Brian Hutchinson (Elmont, NY) scored the first bucket of the game and the Lions would hold the lead for the first 13 minutes of the game. Bridgeport tied the game at 17 and then grabbed the edge on the next play. The Purple Knights clung to the advantage for the next six minutes but the game would be tied at halftime (31) when Falzone converted a three point play.

The Purple Knights scored the first four points of the second half (35-31) but Molloy went on a 20-3 run to charge ahead by 13 points (51-38). For the remainder of the game, the Lions led by as many as 18 points and did not let Bridgeport come any closer than nine points as they came away with the 67-58 conference victory.

Falzone led all players with 23 points and 15 rebounds. Senior Glenn Martin (Brooklyn, NY) pitched in with 13 points, while Hutchinson added 10 points.

The Lions will host the University of New Haven on Wednesday, December 8 for a 7:30 PM conference game.
