      <title>LARUSSO RANKED 24TH IN 2009 NYCBL TOP-25 PRO-PROSPECT TALLY</title>

      <description>ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The New York Collegiate Baseball League recently publicized its Top-25 poll of professional prospects via its games last summer, and junior first baseman Robert LaRusso of Molloy College was slotted 24th on that ledger. Last year, LaRusso batted .313 with seven homers and 36 RBI for the Lions. He also notched a team-best slugging percentage of .517. For his efforts, the Bayside native was selected to the All-East Coast Conference third-team.</description>

      <description>WANTAGH, N.Y. - The Molloy College baseball, softball and women's lacrosse teams participated in the "Making Strides Against Breast Cancer" five-mile walk last Sunday at Jones Beach  in Wantagh, N.Y. The American Cancer Society puts this event together annually to help for raising awareness and funds for a great cause. As for "Making Strides", the walk has described the amazing progress everyone is making to put an end to the severe disease.</description>

      <description>ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. - Head Coach Joe Fucarino recently announced the fall schedule for the Molloy College baseball team, and the Lions will open up their exhibition slate this Saturday afternoon at Suffolk West Community College. Last season, Molloy registered an overall record of 26-19 and an East Coast Conference mark of 16-8, which was second-best in the league. Moreover, the Lions capped off the year with ECC Player, Rookie and Coach of the Year accolades in addition to All-Region recognition.</description>

      <description>CLEVELAND, OHIO - Last week, the Athletic Directors' Association announced its recipients of the 2008-09 Academic Achievement Award for Division II, and Molloy College had 29 of its student-athletes recognized out of a total of 4,020 across 115 institutions. In order to obtain this honor, the student-athlete had to achieve a cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 or better. They also needed to attend the institution for at least two years, and be a member of an intercollegiate team during his or her previous academic year.</description>

      <description>CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. - Senior infielder Patrick Walsh from Molloy College was picked as the East Coast Conference Baseball Scholar-Athlete of the Year on Thursday by the Faculty Athletic Representative from each institution in the league. He was handed the honor for his work on the diamond and inside the classroom. Walsh, who graduated with a degree in Mathematics Education, posted a grade-point average of 3.79, and earned All-ECC first-team recognition.</description>

With the defeat, the Lions fell to 26-18 overall. As for the Spartans, they improved to a ledger of 25-21 on the year. STAC has also won five straight and seven of its last eight contests.</description>
