GREIG AND WALSH TAKE HOME NCBWA ALL-EAST REGION PRAISE

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (May. 29, 2009) - The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association released its All- East Region squad on Friday, and two players from Molloy College were selected. Junior outfielder T.J. Greig (Staten Island, N.Y.) was picked to the first-team, while senior infielder Patrick Walsh (Bellmore, N.Y.) was chosen as a second-team all-star. For Greig, this marks his fourth postseason honor, while Walsh earns his second - his first being an All-East Coast Conference first-team nod.

Greig was vital in the Lions' success as helped the team to an overall record of 26-19 and an ECC mark of 16-8. The Staten Island native hit .364 on the year with five home runs and 33 RBI. Greig also stole nine bags in addition to posting a .492 slugging and a .425 on-base percentage. As a result, he was selected as the East Coast Conference Player of the Year. Greig also earned Daktronics All-Northeast Region first-team honors, and American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings All-East Region second-team kudos.

Amongst the East Coast Conference, he was ranked in the Top-6 in seven statistical categories. Greig served as the league leader in total bases and hits with totals of 92 and 68, respectively. He was also slotted second in homers, third in runs batted in, fourth in individual hitting, fifth in slugging percentage and sixth in on-base percentage. Moreover, Greig raked 67 putouts, while committing no errors for a 1.000 fielding percentage.

Walsh, who was a tri-captain this past season, batted .248 with one homer and 20 RBI. He also accumulated 44 total bases, 41 runs and 18 stolen bases. In NCAA Division II, Walsh positioned himself 62nd in walks (34). In the process, he was slotted first in that same category in the ECC. Furthermore, Walsh was second in runs scored, sixth in stolen bases and 10th in on-base percentage (.397). Lastly, he put together quite the showing at the shortstop position for Molloy after registering 147 assists and 62 putouts in 2009.
