LARUSSO GARNERS ECC PLAYER OF THE WEEK ACCOLADES

CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Apr. 14, 2009) – On
Monday, the East Coast Conference announced its weekly
award-winners for baseball, and sophomore catcher/outfielder
Robert LaRusso (Bayside, N.Y.) was named the
player of the week by the league. He receives the award after
hitting a home run with five RBI and three runs scored in two
games. For LaRusso, this marks his first honor from the ECC in
2009.
Against the University of Bridgeport on Tuesday, he batted a
perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and five RBI. Four of those ribbies
came on a grand slam. Then, on Thursday, LaRusso notched a .333
batting average (1-3) with a base on balls. Overall, he is hitting
.300 with six homers and 22 RBI this year. LaRusso has also picked
up 36 hits and 26 runs in addition to posting a .533 slugging
percentage.
Head Coach Joe Fucarino and his squad return to action tomorrow
when they head down the street to Garden City, N.Y. for a 3:30 p.m.
first pitch at Adelphi University.
