GREIG NAMED TO DAKTRONICS ALL-NORTHEAST REGION FIRST-TEAM

2009 Daktronics All-Northeast Region Baseball Team

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (May. 13, 2009) - The selections for the 2009 Daktronics All-Northeast Region Baseball Team were announced on Wednesday morning, and junior outfielder T.J. Greig (Staten Island, N.Y.) of Molloy College was tabbed as a first-team all-star. He will now be placed on the national ballot, and voted upon for All-America recognition. For Greig, this marks his second post-season accolade of the year after being chosen as the East Coast Conference Player of the Year.

This season, Greig batted .364 with five home runs and 33 RBI - both of which rank second on the team. He also posted a .492 slugging and a .425 on-base percentage, while swiping nine bases in 10 attempts. Amongst the ECC, Greig is currently slotted in the Top-10 in eight different statistical categories. He is atop the league in hits and total bases with respective totals of 68 and 92. Greig is also second in home runs (5), third in RBI (33), fifth in batting average, sixth in on-base and slugging percentage, and tied for 10th in runs scored (26).

He is joined in the outfield by senior centerfielder Jeff Bercume (Leicester, Mass.) of Merrimack College and senior outfielder/pitcher Cody Holliday (Havre De Grace, Md.) of Wilmington University. The top honors came from the Northeast-10 and East Coast conferences. Senior infielder Mike Baillargeon (Worcester, Mass.) from Assumption College was selected as the Daktronics Northeast Region Player of the Year, while sophomore hurler Gabriel Duran (Brooklyn, N.Y.) of Dowling College earned pitcher of the year kudos.

Head Coach Joe Fucarino and the Lions closed out the 2009 campaign with an overall record of 26-19 and an ECC ledger of 16-8. In the process, Molloy managed to place seven names on the All-East Coast Conference roster. It also sported the ECC Player of the Year (Greig) as well as the Rookie of the Year in freshman outfielder Carmine Pellechia (Staten Island, N.Y.) and the Coach of the Year (Fucarino).
