GREIG EARNS ABCA/RAWLINGS ALL-EAST REGION SECOND-TEAM KUDOS

2009 ABCA Division II All-East Region Baseball Team

ORANGEBURG, N.Y. (May. 21, 2009) - On Thursday, the American Baseball Coaches Association along with Rawlings announced its All-East Region squad, and junior outfielder T.J. Greig (Staten Island, N.Y.) of Molloy College was picked to the second-team. He garners the honor following a year that saw him bat .364 with five homers and 33 RBI. As a result, Greig was selected as the East Coast Conference Player of the Year and a Daktronics All-Northeast Region first-teamer.

In the process, he swiped nine bases, while recording a .492 slugging and a .425 on-base percentage. Greig is currently positioned in the Top-6 in the ECC in seven different categories. He ranks first in total bases (92) and hits (68). Greig is also second in home runs, third in ribbies, fourth in average, fifth in slugging percentage and sixth in on-base percentage. Lastly, in the field, he proved to be flawless as Greig notched 67 putouts and six assists with no errors for a fielding percentage of 1.000

The three other outfielders on the second-team are sophomore outfielder James Roche (Arlington, Mass.) of Bentley University, junior outfielder Kevin Rivers (Bristol, Conn.) of Franklin Pierce University and freshman outfielder Alexi Colon (Millville, N.J.) of Dominican College. The Ravens and Chargers also took home top accolades. FPU rookie catcher Mike Dowd (East Bridgewater, Mass.) was picked as the ABCA Rookie of the Year. Head Coach Rick Giannetti (New City, N.Y.) of Dominican received the Coach of the Year award.

Head Coach Joe Fucarino and the Lions finished the 2009 season at 26-19 overall and 16-8 in the East Coast Conference.
