BASEBALL DROPS CONFERENCE GAME TO DOWLING

BROOKHAVEN, NY- The Molloy College baseball team dropped a conference game to the Golden Lions of Dowling College on April 29.  The 10-3 loss drops the Lions to 26-18 overall and 14-10 in the conference, while the Golden Lions improve to 24-16 and 14-10. 

Dowling scored two runs in both the first and second innings to take the early 4-0 lead.  The Golden Lions extended their advantage to five (5-0) when they recorded a run in the fifth inning.  During the sixth inning, freshman Joseph Menendez (Manhattan, NY) knocked in two runs and Molloy cut their deficit to three (5-2).  The Lions made it a 5-3 game when sophomore T.J. Greig's (Staten Island, NY) single allowed junior Patrick Walsh (Bellmore, NY) to cross the plate in the seventh inning.  However, in the bottom of the inning, Dowling added five runs to their total as they came away with the 10-3 victory.  Senior Brian Powers (Westbury, NY) took the loss on the mound as he allowed nine hits, four earned runs, three walks and struck out a batter over six innings pitched. 

The Lions will host their senior day on Saturday, May 3 as they take on C.W. Post.  The first game of the ECC doubleheader will begin at 12:00 PM.
