ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. Last month, the Molloy College Department of Athletics honored its student-athletes at Mary E. Lilly Night, which serves as the annual year-end banquet at Quealy Gymnasium in the Wilbur Arts Center on the Molloy campus. As part of that night, senior forward Kymira Woodberry of womens basketball, and senior outfielder T.J. Greig of baseball took home Senior Female and Male Athlete of the Year recognition, respectively. Meanwhile, senior attacker Lori Sollitto of womens lacrosse was the first recipient of the Bob Houlihan Award.

FONTANA AND GREIG SELECTED TO ABCA/RAWLINGS ALL-EAST SECOND-TEAM
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - On Wednesday afternoon, the American Baseball Coaches Association and Rawlings announced its All-East Region selections for Division II, and a pair of Molloy College players landed their names on the second-team. Senior T.J. Greig took home the honor for second base, while sophomore Chuck Fontana earned the accolade at the starting pitcher position.

GREIG ADDS ON TO ACCOLADE LIST WITH NCBWA ALL-EAST REGION FIRST-TEAM NOD
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - Senior infielder T.J. Greig of the Molloy College baseball team was picked to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers' Association All-East Region First-Team, which was issued by a selected panel of the organization's choosing on Tuesday. This marks the third post-season accolade that Greig has garnered this season as he was named to the All-East Coast Conference and Daktronics All-East Region First-Team.

GREIG AND LARUSSO BRING HOME DAKTRONICS ALL-EAST REGION KUDOS
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Very recently, Daktronics, Inc. publicized its Division II All-East Region baseball squad, and senior second baseman T.J. Greig of Molloy College earned first-team honors, while junior first baseman/catcher Robert LaRusso was selected to the second-team. This year, Greig posted a team-leading .376 average with six home runs and 37 RBI, while LaRusso hit .321 with five long balls and 49 RBI. As a result of their efforts, they were both chosen to the All-ECC first-team last week.

ONEONTA, N.Y. On Tuesday morning, the College Sports Information Directors of America in conjunction with ESPN The Magazine gave out its Academic All-District honors for baseball, and senior second baseman T.J. Greig of Molloy College was selected to the second-team. Greig, who will be graduating this month with a degree in Criminal Justice, batted .376 on the year with six homers and 47 RBI.

BASEBALL LOSES THRILLER TO C.W. POST IN ECC CHAMPIONSHIP; 4-2, 6-5
BROOKHAVEN, N.Y. - Leading by a score of 5-2 in the deciding match-up of the East Coast Conference Championship, the second-seeded Molloy College baseball team gave up three runs in the latter of the eighth to No. 1 seed C.W. Post, which tied the game. The Pioneers then won it 6-5 in the 11th inning on a two-out base knock through the right side on Saturday afternoon at Golden Lions' Field in Brookhaven, N.Y. With the defeat, the Lions went to 30-24 for the season. As for C.W. Post, it is now 31-15 overall.

BASEBALL ADVANCES TO TITLE GAME WITH SPLIT ON DAY TWO OF ECC TOURNAMENT
BROOKHAVEN, N.Y. - On Friday afternoon, the second-seeded Molloy College baseball team opened play on the second day of the East Coast Conference Tournament with a 7-5 defeat at the hands of top-seeded C.W. Post. The Lions then kept their title hopes alive as they beat No. 4 seed Mercy College, 7-3, in an ensuing elimination contest at Golden Lions' Field in Brookhaven, N.Y. As a result, the Lions obtained a re-match with the Pioneers in Saturday's ECC championship game at noon.

BASEBALL LANDS SIX PLAYERS ON ALL-ECC ROSTER
CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. The East Coast Conference publicized its year-end baseball award recipients Thursday, and six members of Molloy College garnered All-ECC recognition. The Lions placed five standouts on the first-team, which included four infielders, and one on the second-team. The honors were distributed between the two first-round games of the 2010 East Coast Conference Baseball Championships and just after the second-seeded Lions downed third-seeded St. Thomas Aquinas College, 6-0.

With the victory, the Lions will now square off with the winner of the other opening-round match-up between C.W. Post and Mercy College tomorrow at noon.

FONTANA, BROWN CLAIM ECC BASEBALL WEEKLY DISTINCTION
CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. Sophomore lefty Chuck Fontana and freshman pitcher Patrick Brown were honored by the East Coast Conference on Monday evening as they were tabbed as the Pitcher and Rookie of the Week, respectively, for the period ending on May 2. This is the second accolade that Fontana has won this season, while Brown received his first recognition of the year.

Post at the Baseball Complex in Brookville, N.Y. The game was also the regular-season finale for both squads. With the win, the Lions went to 27-22 overall and 20-10 in the league. As for the Pioneers, they dropped to 28-14-1 and 22-8 versus ECC opposition.

Post in a doubleheader at the Mitchel Field Athletic Complex in Uniondale, N.Y. As a result, the Lions went to 26-22 overall and 19-10 in league play. Meanwhile, the Pioneers are now 28-13-1 and 22-7 in the ECC. They also put an end to a two-game losing skid.

Junior first baseman Robert LaRusso went 2-for-4 with an RBI on Thursday afternoon, but it wasnt enough as the Molloy College baseball team fell by a 7-2 decision to East Coast Conference nemesis St. Thomas Aquinas College at Veterans Field in Orangeburg, N.Y. With the loss, the Lions dropped to an overall record of 25-20 and a league posting of 18-8. As for the Spartans, they are now at a ledger of 23-21 on the season, and 15-11 in the ECC. STAC also stopped a three-game losing streak.

SUFFERN, N.Y. - On Friday, junior right-hander Steven Popielarski and freshman pitcher Patrick Brown combined to throw three innings of scoreless relief in the second game of the doubleheader as the Molloy College baseball team salvaged a split with St. Thomas Aquinas College at Rockland Community College in Suffern, N.Y. The Spartans earned a 2-1 win in the opener before the Lions, who clinched a spot in the ECC Tournament, bounced back with a 3-2 victory in the nightcap.

SATURDAYS BASEBALL GAME RAISES $175 FOR PROSTATE CANCER AWARENESS
UNIONDALE, N.Y. This past Saturday, the Molloy College and Dowling College baseball teams squared off in an East Coast Conference doubleheader at the Mitchel Field Athletic Complex in Uniondale, N.Y. During that same afternoon, the two squads in conjunction with the ECC raised money for a Prostate Cancer Awareness initiative known as Zero: The Project to End Prostate Cancer. Overall, the day saw a total of $175 dollars achieved.

GREIG EARNS ECC PLAYER OF THE WEEK ACCOLADES
CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. On Monday, senior infielder T.J. Greig took home East Coast Conference Player of the Week recognition as selected by the league office. He posted a .412 batting average last week en route to a 4-1 mark against ECC arch-rival Dowling College. Greig also earned six runs scored and three RBI, while producing a .529 slugging and .500 on-base percentage in the series.

Junior hurler Steven Popielarski took the loss after allowing junior infielder Matt Marotta, who later scored the go-ahead run, to reach base via a leadoff single for the Spartans. With the defeat, the Lions lost their first home game of the year.

CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. Senior infielder T.J. Greig and freshman outfielder Greg Walsh were respectively named the East Coast Conference Player and Rookie of the Week on Monday afternoon. In the five-game set with University of Bridgeport, Greig hit .450 with a home run and five RBI. He also registered a .650 slugging percentage. Meanwhile, Walsh got a team-leading .563 average and .667 on-base percentage to go with three steals in the series.

Greig established a new career record for hits at Molloy College on Thursday afternoon as the Lions baseball team downed defending NCAA Division II Champion Lynn University by a decision of 17-5 at the McCusker Sportsplex in Boca Raton, Fla. He surpasses former player Chris Irwin, who amassed 224 hits from 2005-08. The Lions have now put a halt to a five-game losing streak, and gone to 5-11 overall. As for the Fighting Knights, they dropped to 10-15-1.

BASEBALL SUFFERS FIFTH-STRAIGHT LOSS TO NEW HAVEN, 15-3
BOCA RATON, Fla. Junior first baseman Robert LaRusso hit 3-of-4 with an RBI on Wednesday morning, but it wasn't enough as the Molloy College baseball squad fell in its fifth-straight game with a 15-3 loss at the hands of University of New Haven in Boca Raton, Fla. With that, the Lions went to 4-11 overall. They have also dropped six of seven. As for the Chargers, they now sport a mark of 9-2. New Haven has also won its previous six contests.

WALK-OFF SINGLE IN NINTH LIFTS ADELPHI OVER BASEBALL, 9-8

Tied at 8-up with a runner on third base and none down in the latter of the ninth inning, senior first baseman Anthony Anzalone of Adelphi University got a single to left-center, which brought in senior third baseman Chris Weidlein, and secured a 9-8 decision over the Molloy College baseball team on Tuesday in Boca Raton, Fla. The Lions are now 4-10 on the year. As for the Panthers, they improved to 10-2 overall.

STEWART DUBBED ECC CO-PITCHER OF THE WEEK
CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. On Monday, senior hurler Steven Stewart received East Coast Conference Co-Pitcher of the Week kudos. He shares the award with junior right-hander Mike Aviles of St. Thomas Aquinas College. During his only start of the week, Stewart threw eight innings of two-walk, one-hit, one-run, seven-strikeout ball to power the Molloy College baseball team to a 2-1 edging of Southern New Hampshire University on Saturday.

On Saturday afternoon, senior pitcher Steven Stewart threw eight innings of two-walk, one-run, seven-strikeout ball to help the Molloy College baseball team to a split against Southern New Hampshire University at Baseball Heaven in Yaphank, N.Y. The Lions yanked out a 2-1 win in the opener before suffering a 5-2 loss to the Penmen in the nightcap. As a result, Molloy went to an overall ledger of 2-4. As for SNHU, it is now at 1-1 on the 2010 campaign.

With the loss, Molloy fell to a mark of 1-3 on the campaign. It has also dropped its last two decisions. As for the Golden Falcons, they improved to an overall record of 2-6. FOUR-RUN EIGHTH INNING PROPELS PHILADELPHIA PAST BASEBALL, 4-3
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. Up by a score of 3-0 in the latter of the eighth inning, the Molloy College baseball team surrendered four runs to hand Philadelphia University its first lead of the game. The Lions were not able to make a rally in Top-9, and eventually lost to the Rams, 4-3, on Saturday afternoon at the Polo Grounds in Myrtle Beach, S.C. The defeat spoiled a great outing by sophomore hurler Justin Jorgensen, who tossed seven innings of shutout ball. He also struck out two hitters in the process.

BASEBALL SALVAGES SPLIT IN SEASON-OPENING TWINBILL WITH POST; 5-2, 6-3
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. Senior infielder T.J. Greig amassed a homer and two RBI on Friday, while going a combined 3-for-7 at the plate to help the Molloy College baseball team pick up a split versus Post University in a season-opening doubleheader at Griffith Stadium in Myrtle Beach, S.C. He raked eight total bases and a pair of doubles in the games as well. With the decisions, the Lions and Eagles began the 2010 campaign with an overall record of 1-1.

BASEBALL CHOSEN SECOND IN ECC PRESEASON CENSUS; GREIG GETS TOP PLAYER ACCOLADES
CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. On Friday afternoon, the East Coast Conference released its preseason poll for baseball, and Molloy College has been tabbed to come in second, in a vote of the seven head coaches in the league. The Lions earned two first-place nods, and 43 total points. Dowling College, which enters the season as the defending NCAA East Region Champion and ECC Tournament runner-up, was selected by the league to win the title this season. The Golden Lions received five first-place votes, and 47 points.

BASEBALL SLOTTED EIGHTH IN NCBWA EAST PRESEASON CENSUS
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. On Tuesday, the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association issued its preseason polls, and Molloy College was positioned eighth in the East Region with 28 points. Last season, the Lions had an overall record of 26-19 and an East Coast Conference mark of 16-8. They also reached the second round of the league tournament. Franklin Pierce University led the group with 68 points and five first-place nods. Adelphi University and Dowling College were tied for second with 55 points and a first-place vote.

STEWART AND GREIG BRING HOME NCBWA PRESEASON ALL-AMERICA HONORABLE MENTION KUDOS
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. On Monday, the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association sent out the selections for its Division II Preseason All-America Team, and senior hurler Steven Stewart and senior outfielder T.J. Greig were both tabbed as honorable mentions. In 2009, Stewart was named to the All-East Coast Conference first-team, while Greig was named the leagues player of the year. He also garnered NCBWA All-East Region first-team accolades.

THREE BASEBALL PLAYERS MAKE EARLY COMMITMENT TO MOLLOY
ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. Head Coach Joe Fucarino of the Molloy College baseball team has publicized the signing of three players to National Letters of Intent for the 2011 season during the National Collegiate Athletic Associations early signing period. Pitcher Max Schonfeld as well as catchers Louis Mazzella and Daniel Flanick have signed the dotted line on a scholarship to play for the Lions starting next fall.

LARUSSO RANKED 24TH IN 2009 NYCBL TOP-25 PRO-PROSPECT TALLY
ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The New York Collegiate Baseball League recently publicized its Top-25 poll of professional prospects via its games last summer, and junior first baseman Robert LaRusso of Molloy College was slotted 24th on that ledger. Last year, LaRusso batted .313 with seven homers and 36 RBI for the Lions. He also notched a team-best slugging percentage of .517. For his efforts, the Bayside native was selected to the All-East Coast Conference third-team.

MOLLOY TEAMS MAKE STRIDES AGAINST BREAST CANCER
WANTAGH, N.Y. The Molloy College baseball, softball and womens lacrosse teams participated in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer five-mile walk last Sunday at Jones Beach in Wantagh, N.Y. The American Cancer Society puts this event together annually to help for raising awareness and funds for a great cause. As for "Making Strides", the walk has described the amazing progress everyone is making to put an end to the severe disease.

BASEBALL TO KICK OFF 2009 FALL SCHEDULE ON SEPTEMBER 19
ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. Head Coach Joe Fucarino recently announced the fall schedule for the Molloy College baseball team, and the Lions will open up their exhibition slate this Saturday afternoon at Suffolk West Community College. Last season, Molloy registered an overall record of 26-19 and an East Coast Conference mark of 16-8, which was second-best in the league. Moreover, the Lions capped off the year with ECC Player, Rookie and Coach of the Year accolades in addition to All-Region recognition.
