PELLECHIA GARNERS ECC ROOKIE OF THE WEEK ACCOLADES
CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Mar. 2, 2009) – On
Monday afternoon, the East Coast Conference announced its very
first list of baseball weekly award-winners for the 2009 campaign,
and freshman outfielder Carmine Pellechia (Staten Island,
N.Y.) was named the rookie of the week by the league. In
his first three games, Pellechia hit .417 with six runs scored,
five hits and four RBI. He also stole three bases.
Against Briarcliffe College on Friday, Pellechia posted a pair of
hits in three at-bats. He also had an RBI single and four runs
scored in a 14-4 victory for Molloy. On that same evening versus
seventh-ranked West Chester University, Pellechia posted a .250
batting average (1 H – 4 AB). Lastly, on Saturday, he
registered dazzling stats against Bloomfield College after
accumulating two runs and three RBI, while going 2-for-5 at the
plate. Pellechia anchored a four-run effort in the seventh inning
for the Lions with a bases-clearing double.

Friday when Molloy takes on Nyack College in its home opener at
Lions’ Field in Rockville Centre, N.Y. First pitch is slated
