Dr. Michael Yorio, MD

Dr. Michael Yorio, who is heading into his fifth year as the team physician for Molloy College, has brought the highest level of medical expertise and professionalism to the department. He will see student-athletes on campus in the athletic training room and in his office at the Department of Orthopedics and Sports Medicine at ProHEALTH Care Associates, LLP in Lake Success, N.Y.
Yorio is an internist with specialized training in sports medicine. He got his undergraduate degree at Villanova University, and received his medical degree from the SUNY Health Science Center in Syracuse. Yorio previously served as a sports medicine fellow with the University of Maryland Orthopedics. Prior to that, he was a resident physician in internal medicine at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, N.C.
This past summer, Yorio was named the Director of Player Medical Services for the 2008 U.S. Open Tennis Tournament in Flushing, N.Y. On another note, he currently serves as the team physician for the New York Dragons and is on the medical staff for the New York Islanders. He also worked as a team physician for the University of Maryland from 2003-2005.
Yorio was raised in Port Washington, New York. He and his
wife Amy, who is a gynecologist, have two daughters, Drea and
Lila.
