NCAA MISSION STATEMENT:

"The mission of the National Collegiate Athletic Association Student-Athlete Advisory Committee is to enhance the total student-athlete experience by promoting opportunity, protecting student-athlete welfare and fostering a positive student-athlete image."

What is SAAC:

The Student Athlete-Advisory Committee is a committee made up of student athletes assembled to provide insight on the student-athlete experience. The SAAC also offers input on the rules, regulations and policies that affect student-athletes' lives on the Molloy College Campus.

Goals of SAAC at Molloy College:

  • Become a mediator between student-athletes and coaches
  • Create a strong bond and promote communication between student-athletes and Molloy
  • Build a sense of community within each athletic team
  • Develop true student-athlete leaders and improve their involvement within the Community

SAAC BEGINS 2007-08 SCHOOL BY RAISING $1,680 FOR MAKE-A-WISH

The Molloy College Department of Athletics and SAAC raised $1280 at the 2007 Fall Long Island Lacrosse Tournament hosted by Molloy on October 6. An additional $400 was raised at Midday Madness held on October 15. The $1680 will be donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation after the 2007-08 school year. The Lions goal for the year is $4000 to break their record of $2600 from last year. Upcoming events that SAAC will be sponsoring are "Penney Wars" and "Battle of the Athletes".

MOLLOY COLLEGE STUDENT-ATHLETE ADVISORY COMMITTEE RAISES $2,600 FOR MAKE-A-WISH

The Molloy College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) raised a total of $2,600, which was donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the Division II NCAA charity of choice. The NCAA Division II SAAC Committees raised a total of $208,022 for Make-A-Wish and had 100% participation from the Division II conferences. Molloy was the top school in the East Coast Conference, fourth in the Northeast region and seventh out of the 282 Division II schools in the country to donate money to Make-A-Wish. The Molloy SAAC committee raised their money through various events and activities such as their first ever "Battle of the Athletes", "Penny Wars", 50/50 raffles and the selling of Molloy College Athletics key chains throughout the 2006-07 school year.
